Spoštovani,

vabimo vas na delavnico »TEL Strategy and Assertiveness«, ki je namenjena visokošolskim učiteljem in sodelavcem in bo potekala 4. 2. 2016 in
5. 2. 2016, s pričetkom ob 09:00 uri v sejni sobi fakultete. Delavnico bosta vodili Dr Margaret Denny in Mag Laura Widger.

Učna delavnica je namenjena visokošolskim učiteljem in sodelavcev Univerze v Mariboru, Fakultete za zdravstvene vede, potekala pa bo v angleškem jeziku. Vljudno prosimo, da se prijavite najkasneje do ponedeljka, 1. 2. 2016, preko elektronske prijavnice.

9:00 to 1:00: Assertiveness

Theme:

Assertiveness

Agenda:

Assertiveness - the communication skill that will promote more effective behaviour and enable Faculty to learn how to portray assertive messages through verbal and non-verbal cues as well as elements of successful confrontation/conflict resolution with others.  It will consistently emphasise the development of new behaviours using behaviour, cognitive and humanistic approaches. The central concepts are:       

Interpersonal empathy - position, rights and goals of the other person. Over reactions - aggressiveness. Under reactive – passive.

The aim of the workshop is to inspire participants to learn and apply the principles of assertiveness to their own lives.  The objective of the workshop is to Improve graduate attributes through the principles of academic assertiveness in higher education.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:       
  • Assess their assertiveness;
  • Critically discuss the basic concepts of assertiveness;
  • Demonstrate  the different behaviour types;
  • Recognise their own inner strengths and weaknesses in the area of assertiveness;
  • Exhibit more assertive behaviour in their relationships with academic staff and students;
  • Apply assertiveness in various teaching and learning strategies (e.g. feedback, roleplay, brainstorming and/or guided fantasy)

 

In advance of the workshop, you will be provided with a link to a selection of learning resources that you will be expected to engage with prior to the workshop.

Theme

Exploration of TEL Tools & technologies

Agenda

  • Presentation of selection of TEL technologies that are effective at engaging students both within and beyond the traditional classroom. 
  • Strategies to guide the successful engagement of TEL tools:     The facilitators will revisit some of the technologies and tools and suggest strategies to ensure their effective utilisation and active engagement of the students with a specific focus on communication, collaboration and underpinning pedagogies.
