Honorary Doctorate

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the University of Maribor celebrated its 48th anniversary, where students, institutions, and companies were awarded awards and recognitions, as well as the titles of honorary doctorate and emeritus professor, to thank individuals for their outstanding contribution to the university.

At the proposal of the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, the honorary doctorate of the University of Maribor was awarded to Prof Brendan McCormack., PhD. Professor McCormack is an internationally recognized expert and researcher in the field of nursing. His research focuses on gerontological nursing, person-centered nursing, and the development of nursing practice. He is the recipient of many prestigious awards and a member of many associations, including the American Academy of Nursing. He has more than 600 published works, including 180 peer-reviewed publications and 8 books. At the Faculty of Health Sciences, he has been participating in the 3rd-level study program "Nursing" for several years and is the host of the "Person-oriented nursing" teaching unit. In 2016, he was the first to be elected to the title of full professor in this field. With its excellent work, knowledge, global recognition, and research, it contributes to the recognition of nursing care in Europe and the world.
