We are sincerely pleased that at the solemn ceremony on the occasion of the University Day, on September 21, 2021, the rector prof. dr. Zdravko Kačič awarded the honorary title of "Honorary Doctor" of the University of Maribor to the visiting professor of the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. ROGER WATSON, PhD.
At the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, we are extremely honored that respected Professor Roger Watson is our visiting foreign expert, who has been working and researching in the field of nursing for more than 30 years, both in clinical practice and in his academic path. Professor Watson has been a full professor since 1998 and a visiting professor at many internationally recognized educational institutions.
Professor Watson is one of the leading supporters of the use of non-parametric analysis of survey instruments (the Mokken scale) and is recognized as one of the leading experts in the application of this method in the world.He was Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Advanced Nursing and Editor of Nursing Open and is now Editor-in-Chief of Nurse Education in Practice.
He has been a visiting professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, for several years and participates as a co-holder of the compulsory course Transferable Knowledge and is involved in the course Advanced Quantitative Research Methods. This way, he makes an important contribution to the promotion of the 3rd level doctoral study programme of Nursing and thus also to the promotion of the University of Maribor. Professor Watson also transfers his knowledge to higher education teachers, researchers and students in order to bring the research work closer to all participants in the pedagogical and research process and to enable better and easier interdisciplinary integration of research groups within our faculty.
Professor Roger WATSON, PhD, is one of the most globally recognized experts and researchers in the field of nursing, who with his excellent work, expertise, research and accessibility contributes to the recognition of nursing and the University of Maribor Faculty of Health Sciences in Europe and the world.
