“Research and Education in Nursing«

Maribor, June 19th 2023

 

University of Maribor Faculty of Health Sciences celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding. In honoring this anniversary, we are organizing the International Scientific Conference “Research and Education in Nursing”. It will be held on June 19th 2023 in Maribor and will include most recent findings of domestic and foreign researchers in nursing and other fields of healthcare. The honorary patronage of the event was taken over by Zbornica-Zveza.

The conference aims to explore advances in nursing and health care research as well as research-based education, in Slovenian and international arena. Furthermore, it will provide an opportunity for practitioners and educators to exchange research evidence, models of best practice and innovative ideas.

It is a great honor for us to host invited lectures by world-renowned, awarded and respected professors & researchers at this year's conference. Intriguing lectures will in more detail present the person-centered concept of nursing as well as the impact of global instabilities on the future of nursing and healthcare professions in the 21st century. The concepts of augmented and virtual reality and its applications in nursing education as well as approaches for providing spiritual care for older will also be introduced.

Professor Brendan McCormack

Professor Brendan McCormack is Head of The Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery (inc. Sydney Nursing School) and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney in Australia. His research and teaching focus mainly on the conceptual, philosophical and theoretical dimensions of person-centredness. In addition, his teaching engages learners in understanding culture change and person-centred leadership as a strategy for creating effective healthcare practice.

 Dr. Tricia K. Gatlin

Dr. Tricia K. Gatlin joined the St. John Fisher College, Wegmans School of Nursing as the dean in 2020. Her research, which primarily focuses on diabetes and support for diabetic patients, has been published in a variety of medical journals. She has also presented and lectured at several regional, national, and international professional conferences.

 

Professor John S G Wells

Professor John S G Wells is a qualified mental health nurse who trained and worked as a clinician in London in the 1980s. Since 1991 John has worked as an academic nurse and researcher. His primary areas of research interest are in the mental and physical well-being of healthcare workers, substance use and misuse and healthcare policy formulation and implementation. He is the Dean of the School of Health Sciences at South East Technological University in Ireland.  

 

Assist Prof Nataša Mlinar Reljić, RN, PhD

Assist Prof Nataša Mlinar Reljić, RN, PhD, is a graduate of the Faculty of Health Sciences University of Maribor. She is the Head of Chair of Nursing Care and a member of the Nurses and Midwife Association in Slovenia, working group for spiritual care in nursing and midwifery. She is also a member of the Enhancing Nurses’ and Midwives’ Competence in Providing Spiritual Care through Innovative Education and Compassionate Care (EPICC) member staff group.

Important submission dates:

  • March 10th 2023: Title and Author/Co-author Submission Deadline
  • April 10th 2023: Abstract Submission Deadline ( Guidelines)
  • May 10th 2023: Peer Review Deadline
  • May 31st 2023: Final Abstract Submission Deadline

 

General information:

  • Abstracts can be submitted in English or Slovenian, but must be presented in English language.
  • We are requesting abstracts and not full papers; they should be structured using IMRAD.
  • All abstracts will be subject to blind peer review and published in the Conference Proceedings.
  • All authors will receive a Certificate of Participation.
  • Fee payment for the conference:
    • Active participants 150,00 EUR including VAT
    • Passive participants 175,00 EUR including VAT
    • Other students 50,00 EUR including VAT
    • Staff and retired staff, students of the University of Maribor Faculty of Health Sciences are exempt from the fee payments.
