Call for Enrolment in Postgraduate Study Programmes of the UM 2022-2023

We are announcing the 2022/2023 Call for Enrolment in Postgraduate Study Programmes of the University of Maribor.

The first application period opens on 25 March 2022.

General provisions of the Call, available enrolment places and admission requirements are available on the Enrolment in Postgraduate Studies website.

 

The first application period for enrolment in the first year of master's studies will remain open until:

  • ​​8 September 2022 for citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and EU Member States as well as Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship,
  • 31 May 2022 for citizens of non-EU Member States.

The first application period for enrolment in the first year of doctoral studies will remain open until:

  • ​​8 September 2022 for citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and EU Member States
  • 31 May 2022 for Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship and citizens of non-EU Member States.

Recognition of Foreign Education for the Purpose of Further Education in the Republic of Slovenia

Candidates who prove admission requirements with foreign previous education are hereby informed that their proof of education is subject to recognition under the Assessment and Recognition of Education Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 87/11, 97/11 – corr. and 109/12, 49/20 - ZIUZEOP, 175/20).

Along with the application, the candidates are required to submit the decision on the recognition of foreign academic qualifications.

  • Candidates who have already obtained a decision on the recognition of foreign academic qualifications follow the instructions for the submission of supporting documents demonstrating fulfilment of admission requirements and submit the decision along with the required supporting documents to the faculty implementing the study programme they are applying for.
  • Candidates who have not yet obtained a decision on the recognition of foreign academic qualifications are hereby informed that the online application form for enrolment in postgraduate study programmes submitted via the eVŠ web portal (odpiranje v novem zavihku) also serves as an application for the initiation of the procedure for recognition of foreign academic qualifications. Candidates who submit an incomplete application or application for recognition of education for the purpose of continuing education will individually receive additional information on the request and the deadline to supplement the application by regular mail or electronically via the eVŠ web portal. A document is deemed served on the candidate on the second working day after it was published on the eVŠ web portal or on the fifth working day if sent by registered mail.

 

Supporting documents required for the recognition procedure

1.       An e-copy or photograph of certificates proving an education completed abroad which is to be recognised in the application and selection procedure; without legalisation. The authenticity of certificates will be checked with the issuer of the original document by the higher education institution. In the event that the higher education institution is unable to confirm the authenticity of the document, the candidate will be called on to provide:

2.       An e-copy or photograph of a court-certified translation of the education certificate from point 1 into Slovene or English. In the event that the candidate is required to send a translation of the document, they will be invited to do so at a later stage on the eVŠ web portal.

3.       An e-copy or photograph of the contents and duration of education and of the fulfilled study requirements during education. In the event that the candidate is required to send a translation of the proof document, they will be invited to do so at a later stage on the eVŠ web portal.

4.       An e-copy or photograph of a short chronological description of the entire education relevant to the application procedure for enrolment and recognition of foreign education (write down by year the course of your education in a few sentences). 

5.       An e-copy or photograph of the document proving that the candidate has passed a Slovenian language exam at the appropriate level or other relevant proof – only in cases where this is an enrolment condition for the study programme. More information about other relevant proof is available in the call text for each study programme.

6.       An e-copy or photograph of the personal document on the basis of the written consent of the candidate:

  • citizens of the EU Member States: identity card or passport (page with personal data of the candidate, which should show the name, surname, date and place of birth and citizenship),
  • citizens of non-EU Member States: passport (page with personal data of the candidate, showing name, surname, date and place of birth and citizenship).

7.       Additional proof: the education recognition authority may require the applicant to provide additional proof, if this is necessary to assess the application. In this case, the candidate will be invited to provide it at a later stage on the eVŠ web portal.

 

The list of documents may vary depending on the country where the education certificate was issued; therefore, in order to obtain more detailed information concerning the list of mandatory documents or additional information on the recognition procedure, candidates are advised to contact the authorised person at the University of Maribor (contact information: University of Maribor, Slomškov trg 15, 2000 Maribor, phone: +386 2 23 55 263, e-mail: recognition@um.si, my.UM.si website, office hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m.−11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.−2:00 p.m.

The deadline for issuing a decision on recognition in accordance with the Assessment and Recognition of Education Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 87/11, 97/11 – corr., 109/12, 49/20 - ZIUZEOP, 175/20) is no later than two months after the date of receipt of a complete application. Applicants must comply with the deadlines for the submission of evidence of compliance with the admission requirements in the application and admission procedure.

If a candidate submitted the application in due time, but it is nonetheless unreasonable to expect that the decision will be issued by 30 September 2022, the candidate is advised to file a request for an extension of the deadline for enrolment for legitimate reasons with the relevant faculty.
