The University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, is organizing a Blended Intensive Programme (Erasmus+ BIP) Mental Health and Well-being During Study.

Student mental health has become one of the key priorities of modern higher education institutions. Increasing academic pressures, digital overload, social isolation, and uncertainty significantly affect students’ psychological well-being, learning performance, motivation, and overall quality of life. This intensive programme addresses these contemporary challenges through an integrated, evidence-based, and practice-oriented approach. The programme integrates theoretical foundations, case studies, discussions, and applied workshops.

Virtual Component (2 Days, 3–4 September 2026)

The virtual part includes an introductory session and programme orientation, followed by student presentations in which participants introduce their home institution, country, and academic background. It also features lectures addressing mental health stressors in higher education, digital burden and academic pressure, as well as topics related to social inclusion and student well-being. The programme incorporates guided discussions and reflective activities to encourage active participation. Overall, the virtual component fosters engagement, intercultural exchange, and thorough preparation for the physical mobility week.

Programme Focus Areas

Participants will explore key factors influencing student mental health and well-being, including stress and coping strategies in academic environments, digital overload and its psychological impact, academic motivation and psychological resilience, as well as the importance of a healthy lifestyle and mental hygiene. The programme will address mindfulness and self-regulation techniques, social connectedness and peer support, and the early recognition of mental health difficulties. Special attention will be given to the role of higher education institutions in promoting psychological safety, the epidemiology of mental health disorders among young people, and the development of mental health promotion programmes within universities. In addition, participants will engage with nature-based and holistic supportive approaches, including forest therapy, and explore the use of digital tools for monitoring well-being and stress self-assessment. The programme combines academic excellence with meaningful social connection - one of the key protective factors of mental health.
