The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Maribor (UM FZV) officially joined the METROFOOD‑SI consortium in 2026, the national node of the European research infrastructure METROFOOD‑RI. With this, the Faculty of Health Sciences became a new member of the consortium, while the following institutions are already part of it: the Jožef Stefan Institute, the National Institute of Biology, the Science and Research Centre Koper, the University of Ljubljana – Biotechnical Faculty, the University of Ljubljana – Veterinary Faculty, the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, the National Laboratory for Health, Environment and Food, and the University of Maribor, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The consortium members unanimously supported UM FZV’s accession after the presentation of the faculty’s research and development activities and their thematic alignment with the areas of METROFOOD‑SI. The inclusion of the faculty represents an important strengthening of the consortium, particularly in the fields of health, nutrition, and research based on the One Health concept.

METROFOOD‑SI brings together leading Slovenian research institutions in the fields of food, food systems, health, and the environment, and is part of the European research infrastructure METROFOOD‑RI. The new member will contribute its expertise and research capacities to the further development of joint research projects, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of collaboration among consortium partners.
