Ever since my first year at the university, I’d dreamed of doing Erasmus. It took me two years to finally work up the courage to apply, because I couldn’t imagine living away from my home in a foreign country. The day came when I told myself I really want to submit the application, and despite my fear, I did it. Various thoughts ran through my head – if I don’t try, I’d regret it, and if not know, then when? I was largely motivated by a lecture about study abroad experience given by other students from the faculty.
During my Erasmus, I got to know some local students, who then took me on a trip to the Velika Planina. ESN members in Maribor organize various activities for students, and I met many new friends there. I also lived in a dorm with students who I became very close to, and we went on many trips around Slovenia, such as Ptuj, Koper, Piran, Lake Bled, Velika Planina. Slovenia is a beautiful country and definitely has a lot to offer. And now I know that it wasn’t the last time I was in Slovenia.
I’d like to encourage you not to be afraid traveling, because now is the perfect time.
