The University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, is pleased to announce the 13th International Scientific Conference on Research and Education in Nursing, scheduled to take place on June 5th, 2025, in Maribor. The conference provides an opportunity for domestic and international experts, researchers, and students to present their findings and experiences in the field of nursing and health sciences. The event will focus on current challenges, research, and innovative approaches that contribute to the development of education and practice in nursing and health sciences.
The purpose of the conference is to promote the exchange of knowledge, research evidence, and best practices, while fostering connections among researchers, higher education faculty, and healthcare professionals with the aim of strengthening professional collaboration and networking. At the same time, we aim to contribute to the advancement and promotion of nursing and health sciences at both local and global levels.

General information:

Abstracts can be submitted in English or Slovenian, but must be presented in English language.

We are requesting abstracts and not full papers; they should be structured using IMRAD.

All abstracts will be subject to blind peer review and published in the Conference Proceedings.

All authors will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Fee payment for the conference:

Active participants 150,00 EUR including VAT
-
Passive participants 180,00 EUR including VAT
-
Other students 50,00 EUR including VAT
-
Staff and retired staff, students of the University of Maribor Faculty of Health Sciences are exempt from the fee payments.

Her groundbreaking research has contributed to significant advancements in healthcare worldwide. As a respected expert, she is frequently invited to speak at international conferences and actively participates in advisory boards for several global health organizations.

- Dr. Maxim Topaz, PhD, RN, MA, FAAN, FIAHSI, FACMI

Dr. Topaz is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Columbia University (NYC, USA) and Visiting Scholar, at the University of Maribor, Slovenia. His research uses AI and innovative technologies to improve healthcare, including text/data mining and automated speech processing. He pioneered natural language processing for healthcare data and is currently focused on developing AI solutions for clinical decision-making. Dr. Topaz has published over 170 articles, and his research portfolio includes more than $20 million in federal and other funding. Dr. Topaz has experience in health policy, leadership, and entrepreneurship. He has clinical experience in internal and urgent medicine, a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (USA), and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School (USA).

Additionally, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Nino Fijačko, Dr. Klanjšek, Assist Prof Zvonka Fekonja, PhD, and Dr. Anton Koželj as invited speakers. Their research spans various aspects of nursing, including modern technologies, ergonomics, mental health, and emergency medicine. Their expertise covers areas such as augmented reality and serious gaming in healthcare education, pediatric nursing, stress-reduction strategies for nurses, ergonomic approaches to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, the impact of education on nursing quality, and the psychological aspects of emergency medicine.
